Your cruise from Grez-Neuville

Set sail for a weekend in the land of the horse! Follow the riders along the towpaths or meet them at the Lion d'Angers National Stud. You’ll discover much more during your boating break too including the millennial city of Château-Gontier.

Departure base

When opened in the 1980s, the port of Grez-Neuville was boat rental base in Anjou to offer waterways holidays without the need for a license. From its pleasant surroundings, you will It embark on your cruise, soon to be seduced by this natural and charming region.

Places to see and things to do

Grez-Neuville: Aquarelle gallery, equestrian centre, St Martin’s church

Le Lion d'Angers: Briand Island stud

Montreuil-sur-Maine: Mariale’s cave, Chauvon

Chenillé-Changé: Church, water mill, Chateau des Rues

Daon: Leisure centre (canoes, pedalos, swimming), “Bateau-Lavoir Saint-Julien” historic floating wash-house

Ménil: Notre Dame de Bonne Fortune’s chapel, the laundry where painter Degas was inspired , “Le bac de Ménil” ferry crossing, riverside beach

Château-Gontier: Zoo, “Jardin du bout de monde” - garden at Chateau Gontier, equestrian centre, Convent of Ursulines, St Jean’s church

When you reach Château-Gontier, it’s time to turn back for the return leg of your cruise that takes you back through the beautiful countryside to your starting base at Grez-Neuville.

Excellent memories
What a pleasure to enjoy sailing  and a change of scxenery. We loved discovering the villages and the surrounding countryside, the calm of cruising and the excellent welcome of the lock keepers! We will always have excellent memories of this weekend trip with friends.
