Description of
the boating holiday

Your cruise departing from Dole by boat

From Dole, this weekend boating will take you cruising on your canal boat falong the Doubs and the Saône to reach the old Burgundy stronghold of Auxonne. Set among beautiful natural landscapes, it’s the perfect place for relaxation, enjoying the great outdoors and maybe even a spot of fishing.

Departure base

Dole, renowned as a city of art and history, is the location for Nicols first boat rental base -opened in 1991. It is a remarkable setting from which to embark on your boating holiday, cruising the waterways of the Franche-Comté region and being seduced by its many charms.

Places to see and things to do

Dole: The ‘little Venice’ of the Franche-Comté region, collegiate Notre-Dame (16th century basilica), birthplace of Louis Pasteur, La Fontaine aux Lepreux

Auxonne:
13th century church - Eglise Notre-Dame, Fortifications, Château Louis XI with Bonaparte’s museum

When you have explored Auxonne it is time to make the return leg of your journey, perhaps revisiting some of your favourite places as you cruise back to the Nicols base at Dole where you will return your boat

Beautiful and preserved nature
The setting for this cruise is very beautiful. We loved the architecture of the city of Dole and the villages we visited. The countryside is beautiful and unspoilt.
