Hire a canal boat for a trip on the Canal de Nantes à Brest where in just under 17 hours of cruising time you’ll travel between the small village of Glénac and the town of Blain. Crews of families or fans of history will love what’s on offer in this area of Brittany
Your canal boat holiday on the Canal de Nantes à Brest begins the minute you pick up your Nicols boat from our base at Glénac, a small village located just 11km from Redon. Our team awaits you in an area that is loved by fisherman and birdwatchers due to its rich nature.
Glénac: a small quiet village with a marsh area full of wild birds, restaurant in the village centre is also an excellent place to purchase groceries to take with you on your trip – including fresh bread and croissants!
Ile aux Pies: picnic area and watersports centre, rock climbing, hiking trail
Redon: historic town with pedestrian streets, Museum of the west shipping industry, guided tour of the abbey or of the monastery of the Calvairiennes
Pont Miny: quiet mooring spot with picnic area and barbecues, close to the ‘Maison du Canal’
Guenrouët: Kerisac cider factory, Swimming pool with slides, mini-golf
Blain: La Groulais Castle, Various footpaths from the port for walks
We chose this particular route for our boating holiday as it allowed a great mix of stop off points ranging from leisure pursuits such as sports and swimming, to visiting the many historic places of interest that surround the Canal de Nantes à Brest such as the museum ‘Musée de la Batellerie’ in Redon or the medieval events at the lively Château de la Groulais in Blain.
